Summary of Session 1: Full Spectrum Protection
The Full Spectrum Protection session will discuss a systems approach to protection. A layered protection approach is shown. The session will then present the operational threats the SANDF will encounter and the detection of these threats. Ballistic and explosive device protection technologies will be shown. These include protection against Improvised Explosive Devices (IED’s), shaped charges, landmines etc. The section on Electromagnetic Spectrum Protection, introduces electronic warfare and will discuss the various electronic warfare threats and countermeasures. The last topic of the session will be chemical, bacteriological and radiological protection.
