SA Army, in partnership with the CSIR, is conducting a technology work session over three days from 18 – 20 April 2012.

The principle aim of this work session is to create a knowledge base on what technologies and systems will be available to the SA Army, now, and in the future, and how these technologies will influence future warfare (including internal/borderline/FIBUA and external operations).

The session forms part of the SA Army’s strategy and planning process, conducted every 4 years to ensure alignment with the demands of cover SANDF objectives, border security and support to SA government departments.

The aim of this particular session is to provide guidance on technology development anticipated for the next 4 years and onwards. This will cover technology of today, the near future and the medium term. Ultimately, the input will help shape future force design and ensures the SA Army has the agility and foresight to respond to the evolving technology challenges  and needs of the SA army.
